COOLANGATA, Australia (July 7, 2006) – The Boost Mobile Pro of Surf presented by Hurley, the eighth of twelve stops on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour and the only tour event held on the US Mainland, will take place at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, California, from September 12-16, 2006.

Emphasizing its commitment to surfing, Boost Mobile has signed on as the ASP’s exclusive wireless partner and will host the competition for the fifth consecutive year. Hurley will make its first foray into Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour involvement as presenting sponsor of the event, where the top 45 professional surfers in the world and three wildcards set their sights on the 2006 World Championship Title at one of the most “rippable” waves on the tour.

“As the flagship event for Boost Mobile's long-standing involvement in action sports, we are stoked to be back at Lower Trestles for the fifth year running,” said Mark Fewell, senior director of media and business development, Boost Mobile. “Surf fans around the world will be able to watch the event live via webcast, and television programming will be delivered to hundreds of millions of homes globally. We’re also excited to be working with our partner Hurley to create innovative experiences for spectators, both on and off the beach.”

Situated amidst Southern California’s surf-industry mecca, the event has drawn record crowds in recent years and offers a much-welcomed front row seat to the action. Unlike most events on the tour, which determine the best 4-5 days of surf within a two-week holding period, the Boost Mobile Pro of Surf is required to designate competition days beforehand. Because Lower Trestles is located in San Onofre State Park- one of Southern California’s last remaining stretches of undeveloped coastline- nominating event dates limits the amount of traffic in and out of the park, thereby minimizing the event’s impact on the ecosystem. Historically, Mother Nature has rewarded Boost’s environmentally conscious efforts by blessing the event with pumping surf and idyllic conditions.

“Hurley is proud to align with Boost Mobile to support the ASP by presenting the only WCT contest on the US Mainland,” said Bob Hurley, CEO, Hurley. “Hurley’s involvement in the Boost Mobile Pro originated when Rob Machado called me and emphasized the importance of the event, and suggested that we get involved as the presenting sponsor. The very next morning, we contacted Boost and made the deal.”

“The Boost Mobile Pro has been a fantastic event for surfers and spectators alike,” Hurley continued. “The ASP has done an incredible job of showcasing pro surfing over the past years, and Trestles is the perfect canvas for surfers to tell their story, which is the true essence of surfing. It is a wave that allows surfers to be 100% driven by their own skill sets, and we are really looking forward to seeing who brings their ‘A’ game.”

Pat O’Connell, surf marketing manager for Hurley and former Foster’s Men’s World Tour competitor, knows firsthand how important this event is, both for surfers and the industry overall.

“As a local surfer who has competed in the Boost Mobile Pro for the past four years, I understand the excitement that this event brings,” said O’Connell. “Trestles is one of the most consistent waves in California and is all about pushing performance surfing as far as it can go. It is the only mainland event that goes toward deciding a world champion, and the timing makes this pivotal in the race for the title. The Boost Mobile Pro is a great opportunity for surfers to shine on the biggest stage in the world.”

The Boost Mobile Pro can be seen live via webcast at www.aspworldtour.com and www.boostmobile.com.
