COOLANGATTA, QLD/AUS (Wednesday 27th June) - A behind-the-scenes look into the lives of Australia?s best female professional surfers as they compete on the elite ASP Women’s World Championship Tour goes to air on Channel Nine this Sunday, July 1st.
A Two Wave Total follows their progress on the ASP ‘Dream Tour’ as they not only take on each other but the planet?s best female surfers in their quest for surfing?s ultimate honour ? the coveted ASP Women’s World Title.
It will be broadcast nationally on Sunday, July 1, on Channel Nine at 1pm in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth; and 2pm in Melbourne.
The program?s funding was provided by the Australian Sports Commission through its Australian Government?s Women in Sport Media Grants to Surfing Australia, a new initiative to increase the exposure and reach of women?s sport in the Australian media.
Sally Fitzgibbons, current ASP Women’s World No. 2, said she was excited by the support for women?s surfing in Australia.
“This program will ensure that more Australians get to see wider coverage of exciting women?s surfing,? Fitzgibbons said. ?There has been a great leap forward in performance levels of women’s surfing, so it’ll be interesting to see where that momentum will take us.”
