BARRA DA TIJUCA, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (Tuesday, May 15, 2012) ? The Billabong Rio Pro is back on in clean two-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at the punchy beachbreak of Barra da Tijuca. Today?s schedule is expected to see the completion of Round 3 with Round 4 on standby.
The Billabong Rio Pro recommenced competition yesterday after a four-day holding period to complete Round 2 in thumping four-to-six foot (1.5 to 2 metre) conditions and while the swell has dropped overnight, the surf is still highly contestable today.
?While the swell has dropped significantly overnight, we?ve still got plenty of waves on tap for today,? Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. ?We?d like to capitalize on the swell available and expect to complete Round 3 and have put Round 4 on standby.?
