With the ASP Women?s World Title culminating in France, the 2012 Nike US Open of Surfing marks a crucial event for women trying to secure their positions among the ASP Top 17 for 2013.
?The US Open is a unique event where we have to stick to more of a set schedule rather than a typical waiting period and we knew we?d be running this morning,? Dave Shipley, ASP Women?s World Tour Head Judge, said. ?There are clean conditions out there for the start of Round 1 and we expect some standout performances from the girls today.?
Kicking off Nike US Open of Surfing Round 1 action will be local standout Courtney Conlogue (USA), 19, ASP Women?s WCT Rookie Malia Manuel (HAW), 19, and Sarah Mason (NZL), 17, in the opening heat of Round 1.
