HUNTINGTON BEACH, California/USA (Friday, August 3, 2012) ? The Women?s Nike US Open of Surfing, the final installment on the 2012 ASP Women?s WCT, is ON with the women?s Quarterfinals taking to the water in improved two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves.
The Nike US Open of Surfing has seen an array of standout performances from the ASP Top 17 and while Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 24, secured the ASP World Title in France, the battle for requalification campaigns and the rookie of the year award has produced plenty of action at the Nike US Open of Surfing.
?We?re going straight from Men?s Round of 24 competition in to the Women?s Quarterfinals today,? Dave Shipley, ASP Women?s WCT Head Judge said. ?Luckily we have improved conditions for the girls today and have some exciting Quarterfinals match ups. Good luck to our competitors.?
Up first will be Courtney Conlogue (USA), 19, against Malia Manuel (HAW), 18, in Quarterfinal No. 1 of the Nike US Open of Surfing.
While the action in the water is guaranteed to provide plenty of entertainment, the Nike US Open of Surfing, owned and operated by IMG, a global leader in sports and entertainment, is part of a major action sports festival that includes skateboarding, music, art and more.
