LOWER TRESTLES, California/USA (Thursday, September 20, 2012) – The Hurley Pro at Trestles, stop No. 6 of 10 on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) WCT, is on this morning in pulsing four-to-six foot (1-2 metre) waves at Lower Trestles and today’s proceedings will begin with Round 5, crowning an event champion by this afternoon.
The Hurley Pro at Trestles represents a crucial stop on the ASP World Title Race, with the winner of the event going on to take the coveted crown over the last four consecutive years.
“As expected, our swell has developed overnight and we’ll continue competition today, beginning with Round 5,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “Today has been forecasted to be the best day of surf for our waiting period and we’ll crown a champion by this afternoon.”
Up first this morning will be Julian Wilson (AUS), 23, against current ASP World No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS), 31, in Heat 1 of Round 5.
