Epoxy Surfboard Ding Repair Step 5 "Laminating Epoxy Resin"
Step 5: "Laminating". Laminating with epoxy resin is very similar to polyethylene resin. The epoxy I used was odor less. First, cut your cloth so that it overlaps the ding area 3/4 to 1 inch. I like to round off the corners because it makes it easier to sand later.

For small dings like this I like to place the cloth on a clean piece of cardboard to saturate it with resin. It's just easier than trying to do it on the board with a squeegee.

Pour a small amount of epoxy resin into the center of the cloth and squeegee the resin into the cloth.

Once the cloth is saturated with resin. Squeegee any excess resin off the cloth. Too much resin on the cloth will cause the cloth to float which is not desirable. Sorry, no picture of the cloth ready for application.

Peel the epoxy resin soaked cloth off the cardboard carefully and apply it to the ding. Using your finger message out any bubbles and make sure that all the edges are flush. Don't worry about any threads hanging off. You can cut them off with a razor blade once it hardens. Cutting off the threads will make the "Hot Coating" procedure easier and cleaner.
