COOLANGATTA, QLD/Australia (Tuesday, October 9, 2012) – The world’s best female longboarders are preparing to compete for the coveted ASP Women’s World Longboard Title for the second year in a row at the SWATCH Girls Pro China 2012 hosted by Wanning. Last year’s event saw the athletes take on the long left handers at Riyuewan Bay, Hainan Island at the historic first ever ASP event in China. This year’s SWATCH Girls Pro China will be the standalone event on tour for the women’s longboarders with the event winner being crowned ASP Women’s World Longboard Champion.
Lindsay Steinriede (USA) clinched the ASP Women’s World Longboard Champion at the SWATCH Girls Pro China last year after finishing equal 5th in a hard fought final day of surfing and she’s focused on going back-to-back.
“I don’t feel any added pressure right now going into the event as the defending ASP Women’s World Longboard Champion,” Steinriede said. “I’m ready to compete and will try to back up my title with another one. Last year’s event was an awesome experience. It was exciting going to a place I knew nothing about and I think we were all pleasantly surprised by the island’s beauty and with how well we were taken care of. I’m looking forward to heading back to China soon!”
Marco Vaccari, SWATCH Head of International Marketing told the ASP that they’re proud to once again host the SWATCH Girls Pro China.

Dane Jordan, ASP Australasia’s General Manager and SWATCH Girls Pro China 2012 Contest Director is excited to return to China to once again to crown the ASP Women’s World Longboard Champion on the sands of Riyuewan Bay.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to China for the SWATCH Girls Pro China 2012 hosted by Wanning,” Jordan said. “Last year’s SWATCH Girls Pro China was an historic event and it was fantastic to see the interest in surfing from the local people and media.
