Stop No. 2 on the ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, and the first ASP PRIME rated men’s event for 2013, the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro will play a vital role in determining the 2013 ASP Women’s World Champion and the 2014 Men’s ASP WCT qualifiers. The call has been made to run the 6 heats of the women’s Round 1 followed by the men’s Round of 96.
“The conditions are great right now and we’ve decided to put the women’s event on,” ASP Women’s World Championship Tour Manager Jessi Miley-Dyer said. “The surf is big and clean and I’m excited to see what the surfers can do out there today. The women put on a great show at the season opening event last week and the conditions here are completely different, so it will be exciting to see them out in there continuing to raise the bar.”
An event Press Conference will be held at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro contest site on today at 9am and will feature; Reigning women’s Drug Aware Margaret River Pro champion Courtney Conlogue (USA), 5 x ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, reigning ASP World Champion Joel Parkinson and WA’s very own Taj Burrow.
