CARCAVELOS, Cascais/Portugal (Thursday, October 3, 2013) – Round 1 of the EDP Cascais Girls Pro presented by Billabong has been called ON this morning, commencing at 10:30am in rippable two-to-three foot (1 metre) at the primary site of Carcavelos.
The 8th and final event of the 2013 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT), the EDP Cascais Girls Pro will decide both the 2013 ASP Women’s World Champion as well as the qualifiers for the elite 2014 ASP Top 17.
“We have decent surf on offer this morning at the primary site of Carcavelos and we’ll commence competition at 10:30am,” Dave Shipley, ASP International Women’s Head Judge, said. “We’ll monitor conditions throughout the morning through Round 1, with Round 2 on standby. Good luck to all our competitors today.”
Up first this morning will be Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 25, reigning five-time ASP Women’s World Champion, against rookie Bianca Buitendag (ZAF), 19, and Silvana Lima (BRA), 28, in the Heat 1 of Round 1.
