Kaollopuuwai Kahokul of Hawaii advanced to the Round of 16 at the Billabong Pro Tahara.
IRAGO LONG BEACH, Tahara/Japan (Saturday, July 27, 2013) – The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 4-Star Billabong Pro Tahara, the fifth ASP Japan event this season, narrowed the field down from the Round of 64 to just 16 surfers remaining today in clean two-to-three foot waves.
Today’s action saw several big performances and upsets alike at Irago Beach today, with only the event’s top standouts remaining entering the final day of competition. 2012 runner-up Oney Anwar (IND), Yujjiro Tsuji (JPN), Hideyoshi Tanaka (JPN), and Arashi Kato (JPN) were among today’s standouts at the Billabong Pro Tahara.

The ASP 4 Star Event Billabong Pro Tahara presented by Xperia is the largest surfing event in Japan. Running for 4 days, the event starts on the 25th of July and will run through to the 28th, at Tahara in Aichi Prefecture. The event boasts a total prize pool of USD $95,000 and will be held at Long Beach or Loco Point, Irago. Tahara is famous for its consistent beach breaks, which often produce hollow waves with the right swell direction.
