HUNTINGTON BEACH, California/USA (Sunday, July 28, 2013) – The Final day of the Vans US Open of Surfing is LIVE this morning in peaky two-to-three foot (1 metre) conditions and will crown men’s ASP Prime and women’s WCT Champion by day’s end.
The fourth of eight ASP Prime events, the Vans US Open has drawn several of the world’s best surfers to Huntington Beach in search of crucial points towards their ASP World Ranking while the ASP Top 17 flocked to Surf City for the sixth of eight Women’s WCT events to chase their respective ASP World Title campaigns.
On the women’s end, only four surfers remain, including local favorite Courtney Conlogue (USA), 20, current No. 1 Tyler Wright (AUS), 19, current No. 2 Carissa Moore (HAW), 20, and darkhorse Pauline Ado (FRA), 22.
Men’s ASP Prime Quarterfinals have some exciting match ups, with seven ASP WCT surfers filling up the last eight spots at the Vans US Open. Remaining talent includes the likes of Kolohe Andino (USA), 19, Adriano de Souza (BRA), 24, Bede Durbidge (AUS), 31, Michel Bourez (PYF), 27, Jordy Smith (ZAF), 25, Nat Young (USA), 22, and Alejo Muniz (BRA), 23, while Matt Banting (AUS), 18, is the only surfer left in the draw not among the ASP Top 34.
