JOBOS, Isabella, Puerto Rico (Tuesday, February 12, 2013) – Competition has been called off for the day at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 4-Star 2013 Rip Curl Pro Puerto Rico presented by seepuertorico.com due to stormy eight-to-10 foot waves at Jobos.
The Rip Curl Pro Puerto Rico ran competition on the first three days of the waiting period, narrowing the field down from 144 surfers to the Round of 32 and will crown a champion tomorrow.
“We’ve got big stormy conditions on offer this morning and with time in the schedule, we’re opting to call competition off for today,” Matt Wilson, Rip Curl Pro Puerto Rico Contest Director said. “Conditions are expected to improve for tomorrow and we’ll finish the event then.”
When competition resumes, East Coasters Gabe Kling (St. Augustine, FL), 32, Ben Bourgeois (Wrightsville, NC), 34, Cam Richards (Garden City Beach, SC), 17, and Hunter Lysaught (San Diego, CA), 23, will compete in the opening Round of 32 heat.
The Rip Curl Pro Puerto Rico holds a waiting period from February 9 – 13, 2013 and is webcast LIVE via www.live.ripcurl.com
