Brent Dorrington (AUS), winner of yesterday’s Moskova Trials, will take on reigning ASP World Champion Joel Parkinson (AUS) and Matt Wilkinson (AUS) in Round 1 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast when competition commences.
SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia (Saturday, March 2, 2013) – A lay day has been called for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover. With only small and rainy conditions on offer this morning, event organizers will opt for improved surf and weather projected over the next several days to commence the event.
“Small surf in the one-to-three foot (0.5 metre) range and heavy rains have prompted us to call a lay day for competition today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We have plenty of swell forecast for the window so we’ll wait until we have improved conditions before commencing the event. Next call tomorrow at 6:30am.”
The opening stop on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tours, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast will kick start the 2013 hunt for the ASP World Title.
When men’s competition commences, up first will be defending Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast champion Taj Burrow (AUS), 34, against Bede Durbidge (AUS), 30, and Raoni Monteiro (BRA), 30, in Heat 1 of Round 1.
