TARANAKI, New Plymouth/NZL (Wednesday, April 3, 2013) – A lay day has been called for the opening day of the TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival featuring the Dow AgroSciences Pro with stormy, onshore conditions plaguing the primary venue of Fitzroy Beach.
Stop No. 4 of 7 on the ASP Women’s WCT, The TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival immediately follows Bells Beach and the world’s best female surfers will look to carry their momentum from Australia to New Zealand as they hunt for their spot in what is becoming a hot 2013 ASP World Title Race.
“Conditions are onshore today and with the forecast looking promising, we have decided on a lay day for today,” Jessi Miley-Dyer, ASP Women’s World Tour Manager Said. “Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all looking good for Fitrzoy with improved winds and we’ll be back in the morning tomorrow planning on a Round 1 start.”
When TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival competition begins, current ASP WCT No. 5 Courtney Conlogue (USA), 20, local favorite Paige Hareb (NZL), 22, and 2012 ASP Women’s Rookie of the Year Malia Manuel (HAW), 19, will face off in the opening Round 1 heat of the TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival.
