BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Thursday, January 30, 2014) - The Volcom Pipe Pro, a $130,000 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 5-Star Qualifying Series (QS) event, will commence at 8am this-morning with its first of four days of competition. Waves are in the 4-to-6-foot range, with clean conditions and favorable winds.
Organizers opted to wait through the first four days of the holding period that extends through February 7th, as everything from howling onshore winds and rain, to junky 15-foot storm surf passed through the North Shore.
The Volcom Pipe Pro is an extra special event for the local Hawaiian competitors, being that it is the official Pipe Masters Qualifier. The top eight Hawaiian competitors in the Volcom Pipe Pro will be rewarded with local seeds into the 2014 event, which is part of the Triple Crown series and wraps up the ASP World Tour in December.
The official Volcom Pipe Pro website is www.volcompipepro.com, where you can watch the live HD webcast of the event as well as get up to the minute results, warrior info, daily recaps, videos, photos and much more.
