Defending event champion Kelly Slater (USA) will face Euro threat Aritz Aranburu (EUK) when the event resumes.
HOSSEGOR, France (Tuesday, October 1, 2013) – A fourth lay-day has been called at the Quiksilver Pro France due to the delayed new swell arrival. With 1Ft waves breaking again today, organizers had no choice but to call competition OFF.
Event No.8 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour, the Quiksilver Pro France has completed the first two rounds of competition in excellent surf on the opening days of it’s waiting period and has suffered an unusual four consecutive lay days since.
“We thought the anticipated swell would build throughout today, but unfortunately mother nature hasn’t really cooperated,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “Looking at charts, waves should definitely be here tomorrow and we hope to re-start the event early in the morning with the third round of competition.”
Next Call will be held tomorrow morning at 8am at the main site of La Graviere. When the Quiksilver Pro France resumes, up first will be Taj Burrow (AUS) against Alejo Muniz (BRA).
