Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, reigning ASP World Champion, will take on compatriot Adam Melling (AUS), 27, in Round 5 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast.
SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia (Tuesday, March 12, 2013) -The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover has been placed ON HOLD this morning until 10am with the potential to recommence competition as early as 10:30am.
Event No. 1 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast has narrowed the field down to the final 12 surfers and will likely recommence competition at some point today.
“Clean conditions and we’ll once again wait through this morning’s high tide and reassess at 10am,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We have both Round 5 and the Quarterfinals on standby for a possible start today and will return for another call at 10am.”
When competition resumes, up first will be Jeremy Flores (FRA), 24, up against Michel Bourez (PYF), 27, in Heat 1 of Round 5.
Event organizers will return at 10am to assess conditions for a possible 10:30am start.
