RAINBOW BAY, Queensland/Australia (Tuesday, March 5, 2013) – Round 1 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover has been called ON this morning in clean, three-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at the Superbank.
The opening event of the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast will host the world’s best surfers as they get their respective campaigns underway this morning with competition scheduled to start at 10:45am.
“Conditions are clean again today and we’ll be commencing men’s competition at 10:45am,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “As we have the past two days, the competitive field of play will exist between the Little Marley section of the Superbank down through Greenmount. Good luck to all our surfers today.”
Up first this morning will be defending Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast champion Taj Burrow (AUS), 34, against Bede Durbidge (AUS), 30, and Raoni Monteiro (BRA), 30, in Heat 1 of Round 1.
