Patrick Gudauskas (USA), 27, used the lay days to warm up for his Round 2 match against Fredrick Patacchia (HAW), 31, at the Rip Curl Pro Portugal pres. by Moche.
SUPERTUBOS, Peniche/Portugal (Sunday, October 13, 2013) – Improved conditions this morning and an expected push in swell throughout the day prompted organizers to put the Rip Curl Pro Portugal presented by Moche ON-HOLD this morning and will reconvene at 11:30am local time for a potential 12pm re-start to the event.
Stop No. 9 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Rip Curl Pro Portugal completed Round 1 in clean conditions on the opening day of the competition window and has since then been waiting on conditions to improve.
“There’s a clear improvement this morning and we’re expecting that new swell to continue building throughout the day,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ll re-assess conditions at 11:30 this morning and decide if conditions allow for a re-start.”
When competition recommences, up first will be current ASP WCT No. 1 Mick Fanning (AUS), 32, against Fancisco Alves (PRT), 20 in the first heat of Round 2.
